The end of the old £1 coin

The new 12 sided coin entered the market at the end of March 2017. It is the most secure in the world and boasts several security features including a hologram, to prevent counterfeits, which cost taxpayers and businesses millions every year.

Do you have any of the old £1 coins lying around your house? There are reportedly more than £420 million worth of old coins in piggy banks, jars, office drawers and cars.

You have less than two weeks to search them out and use, exchange or bank them. The deadline is October 15th, after this date only the new £1 coins can be spent.

Happy coin hunting.
